Naples Celebrates Excellence in Care Award!

Lynne Katzmann, President and Founder of Juniper Communities, and her Juniper Village at Naples' Leadership Team strike a pose at the entrance to the award celebration party held Thursday, April 14th.

Our Memory Care Program stands above the others. Juniper Village at Naples is the first and only Florida memory care community, and only one of 28 in the country, to have received this honor to be recognized by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America for "Excellence in Care, Dementia Program of Distinction".
Juniper Village strives for standards above the AFA regulations and is recognized for the Excellence in Care award. As many of you know, at Juniper Village, we shy away from labels and titles, as they do not define us. However, it is with great pride that we explain how this is more than just a title, it is a badge of honor.
You see, our entire mission statement is built on the belief that if we Nurture the Spirit of Life in each individual we serve by maintaining an active body, engaged mind and fulfilled spirit, that we will bring fulfillment in all Seasons of Life. We honor this commitment daily through our specialized programming and specialized care.
We provide state of the art programs that offer a balance of safety, structure, independence and nurturing support for body, mind and spirit. Our pioneering programs and innovative designed environment have been recognized by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Again, it must be said, not as a promotion of the title, but as recognition of the badge of honor and the quality of care our Residents receive: We are the first and only memory care program in Florida to have received this honor to be named a Dementia Program of Distinction recognized for "Excellence In Care".

Susie Salyer, Director of Nursing with Imperial Healthcare is an essential
Partner in Caring. Juniper Village's multiple Partner in Caring
relationships support us in maintaining a continuum of care.

Here at Juniper Village at Naples, we intend to maintain an ongoing involvement with the AFA that will serve to further support and strengthen our mission of Nurturing the Spirit of Life!

Well wishers included over 70 guests. Current and past family
members, referral sources and physicians attended this
evening's event to offer their congratulations.

Barbara Peterson, our Director of Wellness, and nurses
were onsite to share in the festivities.

Juniper Receives AFA Award of Excellence!

Juniper Village at Naples is the proud recipient of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America's Excellence in Care Award. The Excellence in Care Award was designed to assist families in selecting care settings for their loved ones. According to the AFA, "If a facility has the status of AFA's Excellence in Care Dementia Program of Distinction, families know that the care setting has voluntarily gone through the Excellence in Care evaluation process and has met AFA's national standard of excellence."

Recognition was achieved after undergoing a rigorous and lengthy evaluation process which included a thorough full-day, interactive, onsite inspection. Naples is proud to be the only community in the entire state of Florida to have earned this Excellence in Care Award. We are one of only 28 recipients nationwide to have received this distinquished certification.

Everyone's Irish at Juniper Village!

You would have been green with envy as Juniper Village at Naples celebrated St. Paddy's Day Irish Style.  Residents and family members were entertained by Perry Fotos musical delights. Although we didn't find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, everyone left with memories that will always be treasured.

Calendar Girls Entertain Us

Rose may have retired her boots, but she's still a Calendar Girl at heart!  The Calendar Girls are a non-profit dance team made up of women age 50 and older who love to dance! They are a non-profit organization  that performs for other non-profit organizations, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and many other community functions in Southwest Florida. Proceeds from performances go to "Paws for Patriots", a part of the Southeastern Guide Dog School of Palmetto, FL.  Paws for Patriots trains seeing-eye/guide dogs for blinded veterans.  The Calendar Girls have donated over $25,000 to Paws for Patriots and sponsored the first female recipient of a dog from the Paws for Patriots program.

Juniper Village at Naples is pleased to provide a wide variety of entertainment for our residents' entertainment and pleasure. It's just one of the many ways we truly do nurture the spirit of life in each one of our residents.

We've awakened your passion for Art!

As our many friends and families know, our Alive in All Seasons programming affords Juniper residents frequent opportunities to experience a sense of mastery over their disease. One such opportunity is Art Without Boundaries, a quarterly program through which residents work one-on-one with an artist who has been trained and certified in Mneme Therapy ~ a shortened version of the name Mnemosyne, the Greek Goddess of memory.
The Mneme Therapist utilizes unique combinations of pleasurable experiences such painting and storytelling to provide our residents with a rewarding experience. The therapist displays a photographic catalog of paintings, one of which the resident chooses to paint. The underlying motivation for the resident’s choice is the basis for what amounts to be a reminiscence exercise. Thus, creative expression (painting) and reminiscing (storytelling) are combined to create an exceptionally rewarding ~ and masterful ~ experience.
On February 8th we were pleased to host our first Resident Art Show and Sale featuring the works of 23 Art Without Boundaries resident artists. More than 35 family members, friends, and local professionals turned out for the festivities in our community room. Monies raised will be used in two ways: to benefit a local Alzheimer’s organization, and to enhance our Juniper Connections Program with additional visits by Art Without Boundaries Mneme Therapists.
Thanks to all who made our first Resident Art Show and Sale a huge success. With your continued support, we look forward to making this an annual event!
